Amanda Hagan is a mom and early childhood professional from Joplin. Amanda formerly worked as a teacher in her local Early Head Start program, and currently works as a Family Resource Specialist for Head Start. How did you become an advocate for early childhood education?
I currently work as a Head Start Family Resource Specialist.
Why do you think it’s important to be an advocate as a parent?
As a parent, I have the perspective to shed light on what systems are/aren’t working and what my community needs.
Why should Missouri invest more in child care and early education?
The kids of Missouri are our future, so why would we not invest?

Quality child care and education is available to ALL families.
What is one thing you’ve learned about advocacy that you’d like to share with others?
Stand firm but be willing to be open/learn.
