How did you become an advocate for early childhood education?

Having a child made me acutely aware of how little I know and how much help I need.

Why do you think it’s important to be an advocate as a parent?

Advocacy is at the heart of parenting for me. I immediately realized that I will speak up for my children in places where I would’ve been silent if it was just me.

Why should Missouri invest more in child care and early education?

Although it sounds cliche, children are literally our future. Supporting their education is the most important thing we can do. Having a positive, educational experience in the early years of childhood is something many children go without.

In one sentence, what does the ideal child care and early education system look like for Missouri families?

The ideal childcare and early education system for Missouri would be competent, caring, and comprehensive.

What is one thing you’ve learned about advocacy that you’d like to share with others?

Your voice matters! Never be afraid to speak up. Change starts with a single voice.

Any additional comments?

Never be afraid to speak up when it comes to the safety and security of children. “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”   –Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
