Jessica is a mom from Oregon, MO who became involved in Kids Win Missouri’s ECE Leader Fellowship because she wanted to make a difference in her community and shed light on the importance of advocacy in rural Missouri. Jessica recognizes how crucial it is for families in smaller communities to have access to the same quality early care and education resources that are available in large population centers and plans to use her leadership in her own community to bring more awareness to these issues. How did you become an advocate for early childhood education?
I wanted to make an impact on my community and raise awareness on small town involvement and needing more opportunities for early childhood education.
Why do you think it’s important to be an advocate as a parent?
I want my kids and grandkids to be able to stay in our small town and have the same opportunity as kids in big towns.
Why should Missouri invest more in child care and early education?
Providing early education for our children sets them up for success.
In one sentence, what does the ideal child care and early education system look like for Missouri families?
Making sure all children have the same opportunity in Missouri is a must.

That other people would like to hear your story and your story matters.
