Introducing Asia – Our New Outreach Coordinator!

Hi! My name is Asia Collins Muhammad and I just started as the Outreach Coordinator at Kids Win Missouri. I’m excited to connect with families, providers, systems leaders and policymakers to help strengthen programs and policies that support children and families.

To share a bit about myself, I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education from Fontbonne University and then taught kindergarten and first grade for 5 years. I recently graduated from a 2-year fellowship with WEPOWER as a Tomorrow Builders Fellow, where I worked with a team of phenomenal activists, early childhood educators, parents and more to create a playbook that includes tangible goals and next steps to improve early childhood education in the St. Louis region. My colleagues and I collectively worked to pass Prop R to help fund early childhood education for families across the region.

Most recently, I worked at Grace Settlement House and Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, where I mentored students and families toward supporting children’s success in school.

In my free time, I volunteer with Susan G Komen, a cause that is dear to my heart after learning about my mother’s diagnosis with breast cancer. This has led to a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of children and families, one day at a time.

I have had my own experience with home visiting as an alum of the Nurse Family Partnership program and a former Ambassador for NFP. To learn more about my story, you can read my previous blog post that I contributed to the Kids Win site at https://kidswinmissouri.org/empowerment-through-home-visitation-asias-story/

I’m always interested in meeting new friends and colleagues. Please feel free to reach me at acollins-muhammad@kidswinmissouri.org.
